New FAA acting administrator named
A top official in the Transportation Department has been picked to serve as acting administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration.
The White House announced Polly Trottenberg will take over as Billy Nolen is leaving the FAA.
Trottenberg was most recently deputy to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
She worked for the department under President Obama and was then chief of the New York City Transportation Department from 2014 to 2020.
The Federal Aviation Administration hasn’t had a permanent head for more than a year since Stephen Dickson resigned.
Due to FAA short staffing, summer flights are being restricted.
