SYDNEY – Tourism Malaysia has appointed Mohd Hafiz Hashim as deputy director for MICE in Australia.

He was previously assistant director of the Convention Division and focussed on the European market.

Prior to that, he spent six years as deputy director for Tourism Malaysia in Singapore.

Hashim will support the new Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) structure in promoting Malaysia to the Australian MICE market.

“With the right strategies and promotions, I believe we can achieve the 10 percent growth forecasted for this year, despite the challenges we will face in the current economic climate,” says Hafiz.

In other appointment news, Sam Heine takes on the new role of British Airways regional commercial manager, South West Pacific.

Heine will be based out of Sydney and will oversee British Airways’ commercial activity in Australia and New Zealand.

Most recently he was based in Zurich and was responsible for managing all commercial activity in both Switzerland and Austria.
