New Grand Mercure in the Hills
The Hills Lodge, in the heart of the bustling Castle Hill business precinct, has joined Accor’s world-renowned Grand Mercure brand, bringing unparalleled distribution channels and new levels of competitiveness to the established hotel. Located in one of Sydney’s fastest-growing regions and adjacent to the booming Norwest Business Park which provides employment for more than 20,000 people, the Grand Mercure is the only boutique-style hotel with international branding in the area.
With more and more companies setting up in the north-west of Sydney including IBM, RESMED, Woolworths, Optus and Wyeth, the Grand Mercure is set to meet growing demand for business travellers, as well as providing a spacious and stylish setting for leisure guests. Thanks to the M2, it is just 30 minutes from the city, making it a great venue for conferences. The M7 also makes it easily accessible to all of Sydney.
The classic Tudor-styled hotel features 97 rooms in a variety of configurations including 11 suites and 44 premium rooms which were introduced in the new wing at the end of 2004. Some rooms feature kitchenettes for long-stay guests and all provide a lounge and work desk in addition to the bed and en suite bathroom. All rooms and public areas have been extensively renovated, bringing a new level of sophistication to the rooms.
Facilities include a new outdoor pool, steam room, day spa, Noble’s Restaurant, and bar, and four meeting rooms with a capacity for up to 200. Beautifully landscaped gardens and light-filled public areas make it very popular for weddings. The courtyards have also proven immensely popular for coffee breaks etc.
For conferences or leisure guests there are plenty of options for entertainment close by including an 18-hole golf course, a bowling alley, a state of the art gym and for families Lollypops Playland and Café. It is also just a short drive to Castle Towers shopping centre, one of the largest in the southern hemisphere, with over 300 shops as well as 16 cinemas and numerous restaurants and bars.
“We are very pleased to be launching the Grand Mercure brand into one of the country’s fastest-growing regions and are confident that with our global distribution channels and marketing network we can further improve the performance of the hotel,” said Hugo Johnston, Accor’s General Manager Development – Pacific. “Accor has extensive experience with boutique hotels and in working in areas of urban development such as at Sydney Olympic Park so this is a very strategic addition to our network.”
Garry Lingard, a founding owner of The Hills Lodge, says that it is exciting to be affiliated with Accor and is looking forward to lifting the service and performance at the Lodge with the support of this leading international Company.
Hills Lodge Grand Mercure joins some of the country’s most iconic hotels including the Grand Mercure Hydro Majestic Blue Mountains, Grand Mercure Mt Lofty House in the Adelaide Hills and Mercure Grand on Flinders Lane in Melbourne.
