New South of France flights from Edinburgh

The first low cost air link from Scotland to Avignon, the gateway to Provence, is to be provided by Jet2.com.

The airline is to start weekly Saturday flights from Edinburgh from June 23 with prices starting at £34.99 one-way including taxes.

Jet2.com chief executive Philip Meeson claimed the carrier had been inundated with requests for direct access to this part of the South of France.

“We know that Provence is a Scottish favourite,” he said. “We are delighted that we have made this possible for the people of Scotland and in fact The North as a whole.”
