New Telewest service aims to speed up viewdata
Telewest has introduced a service which it says will allow tour operators to distribute viewdata at far higher speeds than previously.
The company is now trying to convert all its travel customers to the new service, called IP Host Connect. Telewest says that it will benefit both operators and agents, resulting in faster processing and less congestion.
Telewest claims that the development not only improves existing viewdata distribution but it “also prepares the way for the industry to take the next important step – replacing viewdata with an alternative form of distribution.”
Telewest Business head of travel Keith Webber commented: “We are very proud to be able to offer the industry this robust and beneficial service. It is very similar to what is happening with digital television replacing analogue – you still get the same amount of channels on each, yet digital TV opens up the potential for so much more.”
