Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced a host of new 2017 programs aimed at keeping Philly at the forefront as a tourist destination.
New experiences are being rolled out next year in the birthplace of America including the launch of the ‘Total Philly Tour,’ showcasing Philly’s finest food, craft beer and art.
Science museum Franklin Institute, which dates back to 1824, is launching a virtual reality experience for visitors.
Guests can explore the outer reaches of space, the oceans or even the human body via HTC Vice or Oculus Rift headsets.
Philadelphia CVB also confirmed the Museum of the American Revolution, located two blocks from Independence Hall, will open to the public in April next year.
Notable hotel openings this year include a Aloft hotel housed in the historic Liberty Title and Trust Building.
The city saw 638,300 overseas visitors last year, generating close to $1 billion in economic impact.
While the UK remains the largest overseas source market, tourist visits to Philly from both China and Australia saw double digit growth.
