New transatlantic flights launching to Great Lakes region
New airlift is firmly putting the Great Lakes region back on the map for UK and Irish travelers.
Two new flights for 2024 have just been announced; as tourism marketing consortium Great Lakes USA appoints a new Tourism Director.
Aer Lingus will start a four-times-weekly flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul on April 29, 2024, with a daily year-round service planned from October.
The service allows travellers to MSP use preclearance in Dublin.
Dublin Airport is one of the few airports outside North America that offers US preclearance.
Delta is also launching a flight from MSP to Dublin next year.
The US carrier will begin the route on 9 May 2024 with five times a week seasonal service.
Additionally, Anna Tanski has been appointed Tourism Director of GLUSA.
She has 32 years of experience in tourism and hospitality.
She was most recently with Visit Duluth, working closely with Great Lakes USA to market Duluth to the UK and Irish markets.
David Lorenz, Chair of Great Lakes USA said, “Anna’s unique skillset and knowledge will help our region continue to grow as a global tourism destination.”
The number of preferred partners supporting the UK and Irish marketing efforts under Great Lakes USA, has risen to its highest level since before the pandemic.
There are now 19 partners including Bloomington CVB, Discover Green Bay Wisconsin, Dupage Illinois, Destination Cleveland and Traverse City Tourism Michigan.
Great Lakes USA will be holding its first post pandemic Sales Mission in October 2023.
Representatives from the region will visit London and Ireland for meetings with trade and media partners.
