New UK and Europe boss for Air New Zealand
Scott Carr is to become general manager Europe for Air New Zealand, taking over from Simon Bean.
Bean is leaving after 10 years to set up his own travel representation and consulting company.
The change comes prior to the airline doubling its capacity from the UK from October 29 with a second daily service from Heathrow to Auckland via Hong Kong in addition to the current daily Los Angeles flight.
Carr moves from the airline’s Auckland head office and will be responsible for operations across UK and Europe, including sales and marketing, pricing and distribution as well as London-based cabin crew and Heathrow operations. He will also work closely with key industry and trade partners such as Star Alliance, Tourism New Zealand and major agency chains.
He reports directly to Ed Sims, group general manager international airline, based in Auckland.
Other key appointments have been made to strengthen ANZ’s UK-based team. Nathan Rumgay, formerly continental Europe sales manager, moves to the UK corporate business development role, supported by Chris Allison from Thomas Cook in a newly-created corporate business support executive position.
Brad Flynn moves from business support executive for groups to leisure business development. The airline’s continental European team has been strengthened with the appointment of Gary Kershaw from US Airways in a new expanded continental European sales manager role and Jonathan Newman from United Airlines, who reports to Kershaw as the sales manager, developing markets.
Carr said: “Our new long haul product has been well received from both trade and customers and we are now looking forward to our Hong Kong launch in October. We will be the only airline offering round the world flights out of the UK on the same airline.”
