Friday, 2 December 20163 min read
New York has a novel new plan to attract more Chinese travelers.
The state is betting China’s love of beer will translate into more tourist arrivals after announcing I LOVE NY branded beer will be distributed throughout China.
The beer is made by Syracuse-based Empire Brewing Company and called ‘Two Dragons.’
It has been brewed with New York hops and Chinese black tea and will feature the I LOVE NY logo.
"New York’s thriving, world-renowned craft beverage industry is creating new jobs and driving economic growth across the state, and this unique partnership will introduce one of our finest New York products to a global audience," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
"The iconic I LOVE NY logo will promote the high quality of New York’s food and beverage products and attract more visitors to craft beverage breweries, growing the industry and increasing tourism revenue across the state."
The beer will start hitting shelves in China from February 2017 and will also be sold throughout New York, New Jersey and Delaware.
"Our corporate philosophy is ‘Grow Local, Craft Global’. It seemed only right that we would take this opportunity of partnering with I LOVE NY to further promote the state through our beer in China," said David Katleski, owner of Empire Brewing Company.
