The Federal Aviation Administration has reminded residents and visitors eager to catch a bird’s eye view of the Pope’s visit to leave their drones at home.
The Feds have designated New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. as ‘no drone zones’ during the US Papal visit from September 22 through September 27.
"If you plan to attend any of the Papal visit events, please leave your drone at home," FAA Administrator Michael Huerta said.
"Anyone flying a drone within the designated restricted areas may be subject to civil and criminal charges."
Drones are banned from flying over large events for security and privacy reasons while the nation;s capital has permanent flight restrictions.
Homeland Security also said airport-style security screenings will be in place during the Pope’s visit in New York which will include a ban on balloons, selfie sticks and backpacks at Papal events among a list of 25 items outlawed.
