New York tourism industry gets USD450 million helping hand

NY Gov. Kathy Hochul is offering a $450 million lifeline for the tourism industry.

The recovery package will give $100 million in one-time payments to the hardest-hit tourism workers and $100 million in grants to help employers rehire staff.

Another $25 million will go toward attracting convention center and hotel events. A further $25 million will fund domestic and international marketing initiatives.

The governor made the announcement as flights from Europe and elsewhere landed in the US carrying international leisure travelers for the first time in 20 months.
