Newmarket Holidays launches new Silk Road tour of Uzbekistan
Newmarket Holidays has launched a new 11-day escorted Uzbekistan tour, following the Silk Road.
Uzbekistan – Ancient Cities of the Silk Road starts in the capital, Tashkent, exploring the city’s Islamic heritage and Chorsu Bazaar, before heading to the new town.
Guests then travel to Khiva, home to the UNESCO-listed town of Itchan Kala, where sights include an ancient citadel and the Duma Mosque.
The Uzbekistan tour continues through the red desert of Kyzyl-Kum and on to Bukhara which includes a masterclass in making ‘plov’, a traditional Uzbek rice dish.
Further along the trade route, the tour explores the domed marketplace of Compel Bazaar, the iconic Silk Road city of Samarkand, and Ak-Saray Palace.
This is the birthplace of the legendary leader of the Timurid empire, Amir Timur.
Prices start from £2,339 per person, saving £150, and include four-star accommodation, most meals, guided tours, internal flights, and transfers, and return flights from Heathrow.
Departures are available starting in October 2024 through to November 2025.
