No foreign fans allowed at Tokyo Olympics
There will be no international spectators for the Tokyo Olympic Games later this year. Organisers pledged to hold the Games after postponing the event last year, but confirmed no foreign fans will be permitted due to Covid-19 concerns.
That means almost one million tickets purchased by foreigners for the Olympics and Paralympics will be refunded.
This will ‘ensure safe and secure Games for all participants and the Japanese public’ said organisers. The Games are scheduled for 23 July 23 to 8 August 8 and the Paralympics take place from 24 August to 5 September.
