North East air link to Brussels planned
Eastern Airways is to run its first international service from Durham Tees Valley Airport with flights to Brussels.
The airline is to run two flights a day on weekdays using 29-seat Jetsteam 41 aircraft from October 30.
Flights will take one hour 50 minutes with departures at 06.50 and 16.45, arriving in Brussels at 0940 and 1935 local time. Flights from Brussels take off at 10.10 and 20.05 arriving in Durham Tees Valley at 11.00 and 20.55 local time.
The airline will base a second aircraft at Durham Tees Valley with local pilots, cabin crew and engineers supporting the route.
Eastern Airways director Graeme Ross said: “We are pleased to offer a schedule specifically tailored for the business traveller, enabling a day’s business in the Belgian capital without the need for an overnight stay and flights arrive back at Durham Tees Valley Airport by 2055.
“We have moved as quickly as possible to provide a convenient link to one of Europe’s leading cities, which will save time and benefit those based in Durham and the Tees Valley region.”
Durham Tees Valley Airport business development manager Mark Clarkson said: “The new Brussels service is a fantastic addition to our route network and given the level of support from the region, we are positive that this route will be a great success.”
