No frills carrier Norwegian Air has announced its next winter season schedule to the French Caribbean.
Following a successful first winter season, Norwegian will fly three times a week to both Guadeloupe and Martinique from New York, and twice a week from Baltimore and Boston respectively.
Services will resume on November 10, 2016.
"There has been a lack of direct service between these regions for the past 20 years, and the first season performed beyond our expectations. We are pleased to see the positive response from American travelers who are now enjoying easier access and affordable fares to the Caribbean, and if demand continues to grow, we hope to make this a year-round service," said Thomas Ramdahl, the airline’s chief commercial officer.
Flights to Martinique have lead-in fares from just $49 one-way, including taxes.
"This winter’s air service to Martinique with Norwegian is a great success, and US visitors are enthusiastically discovering this gem in the heart of the Caribbean that is Martinique," said Muriel Wiltord, Americas director for the Martinique Promotion Bureau.
Due to demand, flights from New York to Martinique in this season’s schedule have been extended through the end of April, with an extra weekly departure added.
Norwegian also recently announced plans for nonstop transatlantic service to Paris from Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles and New York and direct flights from the West Coast to London.
