Norwegian Coastal Voyage has ordered a new ship that will begin service in April 2007.

The 500-capacity liner will be based in Greenland during summer – a new destination to be introduced for the 2007 season – and serve its Hurtigruten programme in winter.

The ship will feature jacuzzis, saunas, exercise rooms, two lecture rooms.

Norwegian Coastal Voyage managing director Iain Cottam said: “This is an important development for us and the design of the new ship will reflect our brand values, enabling travellers to experience local nature and culture all from the comfort of one of our fleet.

“This order reflects a growing market to Norway and other destinations featured in our worldwide programme.”
