An electric car race track is among the new innovations confirmed by Norwegian Cruise Line for its new ship, Norwegian Bliss.
The 1,000-foot track, on two levels, will be the longest at sea and will allow drivers to go at speeds of up to 30mph.
Cruise guests will be able to compete against each other at novice, intermediate and advanced level and will be able to use a special ‘turbo boost’ on each lap.
The electric cars are designed to operate silently so they don’t disturb other cruise guests.
At a launch event in Las Vegas, Norwegian also confirmed that the 4,000-passenger ship will have an open-air laser tag course, an Aqua Park with two multi-story waterslides, and a tandem slide so passengers can race on inner tubes for more than 360 feet, with a translucent section with ocean views.
President and CEO Andy Stuart said: "Norwegian Bliss will no doubt be our most incredible ship to date.
"We have elevated Norwegian Bliss’s on board experience to new heights, bringing the best features from across our fleet plus exciting new first-at-sea activities like the largest race track and new dining concepts to create the ultimate cruising experience."
During her inaugural summer season, Norwegian Bliss will sail weekly seven-day Alaska Cruise each Saturday from Pier 66 in Seattle with calls in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, British Columbia, along with scenic glacier cruising.
Her inaugural Winter season starts in November 2018 with seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises each Saturday from Miami, featuring calls in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands and Nassau, Bahamas.
