Citing a need to cut down on embarkation screening times, Norwegian Cruise Line will no longer allow the carriage of beverages onboard its fleet of ships.
Effective July 15, the strict new rule aims to cut down ‘individual time-consuming screening and package inspection of large volumes of beverages,’ a statement said.
There are a couple of exceptions; guests may bring water in factory-sealed containers for use with medical devices or to make infant formula, and sealed bottles of wine are permitted with a corkage fee.
Booked guests have been informed of the new policy designed to ‘ensure a safe and enjoyable onboard environment for all.’
"Open beverages of any kind must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, on embarkation day and at any port of call. This revised policy brings the company in line with other best practice travel security protocols and reduces the need for individual time consuming screening and package inspection of large volumes of beverages," the line added.
