Norwegian Cruise Line has finally got its hands on its first Breakaway plus class of ship, the Norwegian Escape.
The 164,600-ton ship was handed over at a ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany and becomes the line’s largest ever vessel.
"Norwegian Escape’s arrival marks a true evolution for our brand," said Norwegian COO Andy Stuart.
"We’ve capitalized on the best of our Breakaway Class ships and taken freedom and flexibility to the next level with this incredible new ship."
After stopping in Hamburg, the ship is on its way to Southampton for a two-night stay before making the transatlantic journey to Miami.
The ship will be christened on November 9 by Miami native, rapper Pitbull, before embarking on seven-night Caribbean cruises out of PortMiami.
The 4,200-passenger Escape becomes the 14th in the Norwegian fleet.
Notable amenities include the largest water park at sea and a spa with a snow room.
"We are thrilled to deliver the first in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway Plus class," said Bernard Meyer, managing partner with shipbuilder Meyer Werft.
"Norwegian Escape is the newest and most advanced cruise vessel on the seas and we are proud of the team that worked diligently to design and build her."
