NTIA saga continues
Mike Hatton of AFTA yesterday issued the following press release on this issue of voting for the National Travel Industry Awards.
Following the announcement made last Friday, 2 June 2006, an audit of the voting in the National Travel Industry Awards was conducted over the weekend of June 3 and 4.
The system used by AFTA for the voting allocates a unique identification number to every vote in every category. From that identification number can be determined the name of the person who voted, the company that the person represented, the date and the time of the vote.
The audit conducted over the weekend revealed 80 duplicated votes across all 24 categories. Those votes were subsequently eliminated and fresh reports run tallying the voting score minus the duplicated votes.
It should be noted that the audit did not reveal any evidence of an attempt by any individual or company to lodge duplicated votes for their own benefit.
Following the issue of new reports minus the duplicated votes it has been determined that there is no change to the finalists who have been announced in each category as the deletion of the votes has not changed the previously announced result.
The industry can be assured that the Awards’ integrity has been maintained and will be maintained at all times.
