Omicron leads to drop in air ticket sales
Airline ticket sales fell abruptly towards the end of 2021, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said. It unsurprisingly blamed governments for ‘over-reacting,’
IATA said the air travel market had been steadily recovering until the emergence of the fast-spreading Omicron strain and subsequent border restrictions around the world.
"Not surprisingly, international ticket sales made in December and early January fell sharply compared to 2019," said IATA chief Willie Walsh.
