On Holiday Group gives trade access to private overseas accommodation
Five thousand private villas and apartments in eight countries are to become available for booking by agents and operators.
Steve Endacott’s On Holiday Group has forged a partnership with MRI Overseas Property to make the accommodation in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Cyprus, Turkey, Bulgaria, Morocco and Cape Verde available to book by the trade.
The group’s range of accommodation-only and packaging websites will mean the MRI property owner’s accommodation will become part of the mainstream package holiday market for the first time.
Accommodation is available from £31.50/€45 a night.
The move follows growing demand from holidaymakers for private accommodation abroad and a rising interest from property owners to maximise their investment by renting out their property when it is not in use, according to MRI.
Endacott, CEO of On Holiday Group, said: “For too many years overseas home ownership was seen as the enemy by the UK travel industry as it sucked demand away form traditional package holiday.
“However, the advent of dynamic packaging using low cost carriers as a source of cheap seats means that travel agents will now be able to offer customers high quality holidays at amazingly low prices.”
MRI head of rentals Olivia Mullan said: “With so many people now investing in second homes abroad and fly to let properties, there is a growing number of property owners who are able to offer a great value and luxurious accommodation option for holidaymakers who are looking for something different to the usual resort hotels.
“By partnering with a holidays booking specialist, we’re able to help travel agents and tour operators to tap into this resource and offer their clients a wider range of accommodation options in popular destinations worldwide.
The service is available to operators and agents at www.holidaybrokers.co.uk and to consumers via a range of sites including www.Freshholidays.com, a new travel portal launched by OHG.
