Operator creates guide to end ATOL confusion

An operator has created its own guide explaining the new ATOL regulations in a bid to make them clearer.

The ‘infographic’ put together by Wanderforth takes you through the new rules using yes or no answers to see if you need to issue or ask for an ATOL certificate.

The tour operator, who consulted with the CAA during production, said the guide is to simplify the changes made and offer both the travel trade and the public an easy to follow chart on the new regulations.

Matthew Coe, product manager at Wanderforth said: "The way people book holidays has changed a lot due to online bookings and dynamic packaging.

"As such the UK government has been forced to change the way holidays are protected hence the new ATOL regulations and the creation of ATOL certificates.

"However with these new rules come complications, questions and misunderstandings, and as a travel provider we felt a responsibility to simplify the information and make the changes as clear and easy to understand as possible.

"The infographic guides you through the new rules using yes or no answers, either way you will know whether you need to ask for, or issue, an ATOL certificate and exactly how ATOL covers your particular type of holiday."
