Operators step in to take on Goldtrail bookings
Turkey and Greece tour operators have been stepping in to help agents and customers impacted by the Goldtrail collapse.
Wings Abroad marketing manager Christopher Mansell said it had a “manic Saturday†with agents looking for space on flights to Turkey over the next week or so
He said the operator wanted to reinforce a message to the trade that it has plenty of space in late August and September to help out with forward bookings.
“We have holiday and flight only availability for Turkey from Gatwick and Manchester from late August through September,†he said.
Olympic Holidays said it was also happy to assist by accepting Goldtrail bookings, with an assignment of CAA claims.
It said it deeply regrets the effect on passengers already overseas with Goldtrail Travel or due to travel over the forthcoming summer holidays period.
“It is a sad commentary on the state of the industry, that again there is another collapse in a 12-month period that has seen a number of other companies fail, causing disruption to people’s holiday,†it said.
It said the failure demonstrates once again the importance of dealing with financially stable companies and ensuring that holidays, flight only and accommodation bookings are fully protected.
