Orlando’s big three theme park operators are handed out free bug repellent to allay the fears of visitors over the mosquito-transmitted Zika virus.
Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando started giving out mosquito spray and lotion free to visitors even though no cases of locally transmitted Zika have been reported in Central Florida.
"In an abundance of caution, we are accelerating preventative efforts throughout our property, including providing complimentary insect repellent to our guests along with helpful guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention," Disney said in a statement.
"We have an extensive mosquito-prevention and monitoring program in place, and we continue to work closely with local, state and federal experts on this topic."
Disney said it will also supply free bug spray in its hotel rooms.
SeaWorld spokeswoman Aimée Jeansonne Becka said the company has complimentary EPA-approved insect repellent available for visitors at all its parks, including Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay.
Tampa health officials reported its first case of locally acquired Zika last week.
