Overseas fans barred from Beijing Winter Olympic
The upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games will be restricted to domestic spectators. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said it will follow the same model as the recent Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Only ‘spectators residing in China’s mainland, who meet the requirements of the Covid-19 countermeasures’ will be able to buy and attend events, the IOC said. Organisers will operate a ‘closed-loop management system’ for arrival for fully vaccinated athletes. Those not fully vaccinated will have to undergo a 21-day quarantine upon arrival.
