Pacific Princess rescues fishermen in North Sea
Princess Cruises’ ship Pacific Princess has rescued three fishermen from a life raft in the North Sea after their boat sank.
Passengers applauded, then Tweeted, as the three were brought aboard on Saturday evening, after the captain responded to a distress flare 25 miles off the Norfolk coast.
The ship was on a cruise around the British Isles when the rescue happened. It then spent two hours searching for two other men, before returning to Dover.
Coastguard operations controller Lee Duncan said: "The three recovered men had been in the life raft for four hours before they were spotted by the cruise ship."
The search is continuing for the other two men.
