Passenger dies in boarding accident on Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth
A passenger has died in an accident as she was trying to get on the Cunard ship Queen Elizabeth.
The cruise line has confirmed that the passenger was boarding the ship from a tender boat in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
She was on a 112-night world cruise which left Southampton on January 10.
Cunard issued a statement which said: "Two of our crew members reacted very quickly and jumped in to rescue her. She was then taken to the medical centre but despite our very best efforts she died.
"Our customer care team is fully involved and will be offering every support including to those passengers who witnessed the incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."
The ship is due to arrive into Singapore tomorrow (Friday).
Cunard would not provide any further detail on the incident.
