Passengers advised to check flight status amid weather warnings
Passengers due to fly this morning are being advised to check with their airline as wintry weather continues to disrupt travel in some parts of the UK.
Yellow warnings for ice are in place in England and Wales until 10am today, after which the Met Office says temperatures will improve.
However, there are still significant problems in some areas, particularly the south west, with at least 10cm of snow in Exeter, according to the Met Office.
Gatwick Airport has advised flyers to contact airline for latest information after flights were delayed and cancelled last night.
Flights in and out of all London airports were subject to delays and cancellations over the weekend. Manchester Airport had ‘slight delays’ while Edinburgh Airport said it had cancelled a ‘small number’ of flights.
Bristol Airport’s runway was closed on Sunday morning, but reopened at 12 noon.
Great Western Railway, South Western Railway and Great Northern Rail all reported delays and cancellations on Sunday. Customers are being advised to check National Rail Enquiries to check services.
In London signal failures have forced the suspension of Piccadilly line services between Hatton Cross and Heathrow this morning, with passengers advised to take extra time getting to the airport and use alternative routes.
There are also delays on the Jubilee line between North Greenwich and Stratford, also due to signal failure.
