Pattaya tourism on verge of collapse
Pattaya’s tourism industry will collapse if the government extends the halt of the ‘Test & Go’ quarantine-free entry scheme. Due to the Omicron surge, Test & Go is suspended until at least 4 January, 2022.
Thanet Supornsahatrangsi, chairman of the Chonburi Tourism Industry Council says there were cancellations as soon as the announcement was made. Thanet expects new bookings to drop to virtually zero new bookings if Pattaya hotels can only book 7-14 day quarantine stays.
All Thailand ‘sandbox’ schemes except to Phuket were also suspended.
