Small ship line Pearl Seas Cruises is the latest US based cruise line to get approval to sail to Cuba.
A day after Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and Royal Caribbean received authorization, Pearl Seas said it is now cleared to operate Cuba cruises, and announced its first sailing is just one month away.
The 210-passenger Pearl Mist will depart Port Everglades on January 17 on a 10-night sailing, calling at Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad and Santiago de Cuba.
It is touting its people-to-people programs as a more personalized alternative to those which will be offered on larger cruise ships.
‘There is significant demand to visit Cuba on a smaller ship and we are honored to be among the first cruise lines to have access to the country,’ Pearl Seas vice president Timothy Beebe said.
The line initially plans 11 sailings through May 2017.
