Pegasus launches non-hotel commission processing
Pegasus is offering an agency commission payment system for all travel suppliers including car, cruise, rail, and tour operators.
The company previously only offered commission payment processing for hotel bookings. The new service will also be available to agents, tour operators, websites and wholesalers.
In order to pay commissions, Pegasus collects the travel booking information from the agent, or other distributor, then combines the information relating to suppliers and commissions, and sends a complete report and payment to the distributor.
Payment can be received by cheque or electronic transfer in the preferred currency. The report will also include information on non-revenue items such as no-shows and customers that have changed their travel plans.
Pegasus Financial Services senior vice president, Jeff Bzdawka said: “Our analysis shows that, excluding airline commissions, travel industry suppliers paid approximately $5.7 billion in gross commission in 2001, only $1 billion of which was paid by hotels. The sheer volume of paperwork and resources associated with these commission payments today demands an automated solution”.
The new service will be available in 2003 to customers of Pegasus Commission Processing, which was created in 1992 and of the net rate payment system, PegsPay, which was created earlier this year.
For more information, agents in the UK and US should email Pegasus.
