Philippine Airlines will mark its 75th anniversary with an expansion to the US market.
PAL will begin flying nonstop from Cebu to Los Angles on March 15.
The carrier will operate 254-seater Airbus A340 which features 36 lie flat business seats, said Jemma Saranillo, PAL Los Angeles sales manager during a launch event in the city last week.
The event in Los Angeles was the third stop on a four city Western US travel trade and media road show which also includes Las Vegas, San Diego and San Francisco.
PAL also operates several US flights from its Manila hub including Los Angeles, Honolulu and San Francisco.
The new service marks a steady expansion in transpacific routes since the Philippines’ aviation industry was upgraded in 2014 to category 1 status by the US Federal Aviation Administration.
