Plan B measures announced

Tuesday, 09 Dec, 2021 0

Plan B measures will be effective in England from next week as the Prime Minister warned Omicron is ‘growing much faster’ than the Delta variant.

Scientists believe cases of Omicron could be doubling every two to three days.

Mask wearing rules will be extended to other indoor public places including cinemas, theatres and churches from Friday, but is still not required in pubs and restaurants.

Work from home where feasible will return.

The NHS Covid pass will be needed to enter nightclubs and large venues from 15 December.

Just hours after the PM’s announcement the NHS app crashed.

Johnson the Plan B will be reviewed again on 5 January.

The app stores and verifies vaccine status or a negative lateral flow test.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid told the Commons there are nearly 600 cases of Omicron confirmed, but the real figure could be ‘closer to 10,000.’

MPs will vote on the Plan B measures next week with a number of Tory MPs expected to rebel.

Still, it is expected to pass with support from the Opposition.
