A Thomas Cook flight from Glasgow to Dalaman, Turkey, had to make an emergency landing at Gatwick yesterday (Wednesday) due to a drunken row among passengers.
Police met the flight on arrival and arrested a 34-year-old man, who was held in custody on suspicion of being drunk on an aircraft.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, punches were thrown by some ‘rowdy’ passengers, forcing the crew to call the police and divert the plane.
A Sussex police spokeswoman told the newspaper there were no injuries or damage to the aircraft and that the two women travelling with the man were not arrested.
A spokesperson for Thomas Cook Airlines said: "We have a zero tolerance policy towards any behaviour on-board affecting the safety and welfare of our crew and customers.
"We’d like to thank those on board for the patience during the delay to their flight to Turkey."
