Prince Charles to visit Jerusalem

Prince Charles will visit Israel this week for the third time in his life, casting a spotlight on Jerusalem.

His Royal Highness will be part of a delegation that includes 40 world leaders, the largest diplomatic delegation ever to visit Israel, to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

Prince Charles will address delegates at the Fifth World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem tomorrow, where he will meet British holocaust survivors.

The forum will take place at Yad Vashem Holocaust museum.

Although Prince Charles has previously visited Israel to attend the funerals of President Shimon Peres in 2016 and Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995, this is his first official visit.

Clarence House said: "At the invitation of Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, the prince will also visit the Occupied Palestinian Territories where His Royal Highness will also undertake engagements on behalf of the British Government."

Prince Charles’ son the Duke of Cambridge toured Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories in 2018.

The Travel Network Group will hold its bi-annual overseas conference in Jerusalem in November.
