Pullman on track in Melbourne
Meetings business in Australia is beginning to pick up after its post Federal Election blues.
However, Simon McGrath, COO Accor Asia Pacific, says the demand is sector specific, led by the real estate and technology. Others sectors, such as manufacturing, remain quiet.
"I think we all thought that once the Federal Election was over last year, business would come back but it didn’t really begin to pick up until mid-January," he added.
McGrath was speaking at the refurbished and rebadged Pullman Hotel in Albert Park which, with the addition of extra meeting rooms, will shortly become Melbourne’s largest hotel-based conference centre.
As part of the hotel’s recent transformation, the ballroom, which can hold 1600 people, has had a total refit, including LED colour control lighting and pin-spot technology.
