Qantas CEO: Governments will insist on vaccines for international travel
Qantas boss Alan Joyce has long said he expects all customers will need vaccinations before it allows them to travel; overseas. He now expects most if not all governments will require them also.
Over the coming months countries will likely drop mandatory quarantine for vaccinations as countries speed up mass vaccinations. Even for destinations that won’t require mandatory vaccination, airlines should still enforce it out of ‘duty of care.’
"We have a duty of care to our passengers and to our crew, to say that everybody in that aircraft needs to be safe," Joyce said. He reckons customers are overwhelmingly in support of this, citing about 90% of customers agreeing that vaccination should be a requirement for international travel.
