Qantas is launching flights specifically dedicated to frequent flyers.
It hopes to operate several frequent flyer redemption flights with seats only available to members.
The airline is confident it can fill seats even as the first Points Plane will be operated by an Airbus A380 superjumbo.
It takes off from Melbourne to Tokyo Narita on October 21, 2019, and tickets go on sale on May 16.
All Qantas members can book any seat on the flight which comprises 14 in First Class, 64 Business, 35 Premium Economy and 371 Economy seats at the standard Qantas Points redemption rate.
It ranges from 35,000 Qantas Points for economy up to 108,000 Qantas Points in First Class.
"This is the first time we have dedicated an entire aircraft – let alone an A380 – to our frequent flyers, and we are expecting to see significant demand for these flights," said Qantas Loyalty CEO Olivia Wirth.
"Member-exclusive flights mean more redemption opportunities for our members and less time searching for reward seats."
If it proves successful more dedicated Points Plane flights will be announced.
