Qantas makes boarding policy change for domestic flights
Qantas is tweaking its boarding process for domestic flights.
It will be rolled gradually at main domestic hubs as the airline looks to streamline waiting times and improve punctuality.
It is introducing ‘Group Boarding’ which allows passengers to board as part of six different groups based on the seat location, class of travel and frequent flier status.
The process is similar to what it employs on international flights.
Qantas will roll it out first in Brisbane, followed by Perth, Melbourne and then Sydney Airports.
Passengers will be assigned into one of six different boarding groups which will be highlighted on their boarding pass.
It is the most ‘significant change to the airline’s boarding processes in a decade’ says Qantas Domestic CEO Markus Svensson.
“We’re continuing to look for ways to respond to pain points and improve the travel experience.”
