Qantas staff braced for possible job stand-downs
Qantas is warning staff that stand-downs are a possibility if lockdowns continue.
In a staff memo, the airline was running at 90% of pre-pandemic capacity but Sydney’s lockdown has reduced it to 60%. With lockdowns in Victoria and South Australia, Qantas boss Alan Joyce said it could fall to less than 40%.
"We’re not at the point of requiring stand-downs in our domestic operations at this stage but can’t rule it out if multiple states keep their borders closed," Joyce said.
