Qbic Hotel WTC Amsterdam Awarded Gold Status
Located in the financial district and economic heart of Amsterdam and just 15 minutes from the city centre by public transport, Qbic Hotel WTC Amsterdam is a perfect place to stay for leisure guests as well as business travelers. The hotel offers 82 rooms with an all-in-one pod concept called Qbi – a clever and cozy crashpad that integrates a bed, bathroom and desk.
Green Globe congratulates Qbic Hotel WTC Amsterdam on its Gold status marking five continuous years of certification.
Josine Vendrik, Hotel Manager at Qbic Hotel WTC Amsterdam said, "At Qbic Hotel WTC Amsterdam, we are constantly looking for innovative ways to reduce our impact on the environment and work tirelessly on decreasing this impact to ensure we are one of the best modern green hotels in Amsterdam. We believe in sustainability and therefore cultivate awareness amongst our staff and guests to reduce waste and drive down energy usage."
Incorporating sustainability practices in day-to-day operations has become second nature for the hotel. To limit water usage, specially designed rain showers in bathrooms cleverly mix air with hot water. This method uses far less water than a conventional hotel shower without compromising pressure so guests don’t even notice the difference.
Energy and water saving measures have also been implemented. Qbic Hotel WTC Amsterdam uses 100% green energy and generates electricity via solar panels on the roof. In addition, a cogeneration plant provides efficient heating for the building and LED lightning is installed throughout the property. Once inserted, room keys activate electricity usage and water taps are also automatically shut down when rooms are vacated.
To reduce its environmental impact, different kinds of waste including paper are recycled with the help of a partner company. Ink cartridges, toners and mobile phones are collected for recycling by Eeko.com with proceeds donated to charitable causes and organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund. The hotel prefers toiletries that are natural and environmentally friendly as well as luxurious. Also, refillable dispensers instead of individually packaged items are used to decrease waste volume.
Please see Qbic Hotel’s Green Page for a comprehensive list of its Green Initiatives.
