From November 16 to 20, 2016, Quito is offering a light and musical show like never before. This artistic expression is taking place during the Habitat III, UN Conference, hosting by the capital.
For the first time, the well-known historical buildings are changing their look. Seven iconic buildings places are painting by lights and musical video performance. The aim of the spectacle is to enhance the historical places by seven different concepts.
The iconic buildings covered in this light and musical performance are:
- The Golden Leaf Church of La Compania, one of the most visited and important places of Quito. It´s offering a new colorful look of the entrance, where every detailed of the sculpted volcanic rock is enhanced.
- La Merced Church is offering the "Laniakea Performance". It is a show of led lights, music, and visual choreography of Cosmo and the Stars.
- The Santo Domingo Temple offers a Light Mapping that promises to blow visitor´s mind.
- The San Blas Square became the place to remember the victims of the past April earthquake in Ecuador. Flashing lights represents the way to remember what it was and now is gone.
- The Chappel of City Museum, it was an ancient indigenous worshiped. That´s why during these days the sun is going to take place every night at this ancient location.
- The Metropolitan Cultural Center is enhancing the birds that take the sky of Quito. There are the Doves! And through the lights and colors is the way to enhance them.
- The Sucre Theater Square, on the other hand, is offering an unforgettable light show.
The Party of Light is the Quito City Council initiative by the hand of the Alliance Francaise Quito, and the Lyon City Hall. And the artistic concept has been driven by a French and Ecuadorian group of artists.

Definitely, Quito has become the center of the world and the City of Light for one week. Not only for the UN Conference, Habitat III, but also for enhancing the cultural and artistic heritage of this meridional capital.
