Recruitment firm sees jump in placements
Latest figures from C&M Recruitment point to a major turnaround in the travel jobs market.
The firm has seen the number of job placements jump by 74.51% in the last three months, compared to the same period in 2013.
This compares to a fall of 27.46% for the same three months between 2011 and 2012, followed by another slight fall of 0.98% between 2012 and 2013.
According to C&M, this year’s increase applies to nearly all sectors, but is particularly significant in the business travel sector.
"We’ve seen a big rise in the number of placements for almost all job types, with the number of business travel, reservations and retail manager appointments being far ahead of the levels that we are used to seeing at this time of year," said sales director Barbara Kolosinska.
She said the big jump in business travel placements was partly down to new account wins and also to a rise in temporary positions.
"The TMC sector is improving at the moment and many more companies are looking at temporary employees as a way of establishing their recruitment needs," she explained.
"Temporary roles are a fluid, flexible and dynamic way to take on staff and are a fantastic, cost-effective method of immediately gaining a very highly-skilled professional.
"About 65% of all our temp placements are in business travel, and we expect this number to increase further this year."
