Regulator warns GoAir for overworking pilots
Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation has taken aim at Indian budget carrier GoAir for overworking more than 150 pilots.
It violated duty time regulations, the DGCA said, but the regulator will not impose a financial penalty.
The warning notice covers about a quarter of GoAir’s pilots.
It said pilots were rostered on ‘more consecutive night periods than mandated’
If there are further violations ‘more severe action will follow’ the DGCA said.
It came to light after a routine audit, the airline said.
"GoAir respects the observations made by the regulator and will take appropriate action to abide by the directives," the airline said.
The airline has been experiencing a pilot shortage and was recently forced to cancel multiple flights for successive days due to a lack of cover.
