Republic Airways revises partnership with United Airlines
Republic Airways Holdings, currently under bankruptcy proceedings, has negotiated an amended agreement with United Airlines to continue serving its existing routes.
Under the new terms, which still have to be approved by a bankruptcy court judge, Republic will continue to operate all fifty-four Embraer jets in service for United.
The agreement helps keep the airline on track to come out of bankruptcy, said Bryan Bedford, president and CEO of Republic.
"Today’s announcement further strengthens an important relationship for Republic. The agreement we have reached today once approved will secure United as a long-term strategic partner, provide significant benefits to our airline, and will preserve a reliable and on-time travel experience for United’s customers," he said.
"It also completes a major milestone in our reorganization effort and keeps us on schedule to achieve our goal of emerging from bankruptcy by the end of the year."
Indianapolis based Republic also recently secured a new agreement and reached a settlement with Delta Air Lines after the Atlanta carrier sued for breach of contract prior to the bankruptcy filing.
