Responsible tourism investment opportunities in Namibia

Sunday, 22 Sep, 2002 0

The Namibian Community-Based Tourism Agency (NACOBTA) and the World Wildlife Fund-LIFE Project (WWF) are inviting interested parties to promote joint venture lodge operations in communal areas in Namibia.

The invitation to tender is based on the outcome of a recent study on the nature based tourism joint ventures that have been established elsewhere in Southern Africa over the past 20 years.

The organisers hope to draw on the experience gained elsewhere in southern Africa, where joint venture partnerships between private sector tour/lodge operators and communities are considered a very effective means of generating revenue while at the same time protecting the communities’ rights to the resources they conserve.
