Ryanair loses EU case over illegal airport aid deal
Ryanair plans to appeal a decision in a European court upholding a ruling that forces the airline to repay millions in illegal aid it received from an Austrian airport.
An original 2016 European Commission decision found the payments from Klagenfurt airport gave Ryanair an unfair advantage. The court also found similar payments made to TUIfly were also illegal.
The EU competition watchdog said the airport paid around €2 million to Ryanair. The budget carrier now plans to take it to the appeal process to the EU Court of Justice.
