Ryanair was told it must compensate customers impacted due to flight cancellations because of strike action. It relates to industrial action taken by pilots and cabin crew in 2018.
The High Court ordered the airline to compensate customers, despite Ryanair claiming ‘extraordinary circumstances.’ The Civil Aviation Authority took legal action against Ryanair for its refusal to compensate customers, and the High Court verdict backed the CAA’s stance.
"We are committed to protecting the rights of air passengers and are determined to ensure all airlines comply with their legal obligations," CAA Director Paul Smith.
