Ryanair grew traffic to over 5.98 million passengers in January, 30% higher than January 2014.
Meanwhile, load factor increased 12 percentage points to 83 and rolling annual traffic to January grew 8% to 87.8m customers.
Chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said the growth was down to its lower fares and the continuing success of its ‘Always Getting Better’ customer programme and a ‘significantly expanded winter schedule’.
Meanwhile, Ryanair has called on ‘high fare’ airlines such as British Airways and Virgin to drop their fuel surcharges.
Issuing a statement yesterday, Ryanair said it ‘has never, and will never, charge its customers fuel surcharges’.
It also called on all airlines operating in the UK, including Flybe, Jet 2, Monarch, Thomson and Thomas Cook, to confirm they do not impose fuel surcharges on customers.
"It’s grossly unfair on consumers that high fare airlines such as BA and Virgin continue to charge fuel surcharges, squeezing customers for every last drop," said Jacobs.
"As oil prices continually fall, these savings should be passed on to customers."
